My experience of Shakespeare up to now has been lots of boring English lessons at secondary school, getting to enjoy the first 45 minutes of Othello over and over at college before lesson ended and watching Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet on repeat post-break up with a bottle of rosé in close reach.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels – a Southey MTC production

The South Yorkshire am-dram premier is coming to Sheffield very soon…

In November 2016, I decided it was time to do something for me and thought joining a musical theatre group would be the way to do that.

I’ve always loved performing and singing stupid songs on stage (more on that here) and finding out a group i’d previously auditioned for (and got in, for the record… but 17 year old me was too nervous to handle) was doing one of my favourite musicals – Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

In August 2016, while sitting and brunchin’ in Sheffield’s Depot Bakery, I stumbled across a flyer for CAST and their line up of events… after much deliberation and convincing Abbie to fork out the £70 for the ticket, we booked to go to 99 Mary Street on September 15th 2016.
